Follow your heart 8

What is volunteering? I think the goal of every volunteer is to bring goodness. Goodness and added value for a society. By joining all the activities, I was able to feel a little bit of a part of the wonderful community of this town.

The last few months have been very difficult, both physically and even more psychologically, but in any situation I try to see the positive things: since I work at the youth center, we organize quizzes every Tuesday and Thursday, have Instagram/Facebook live interviews. Personally, I am leading online English corner activities every Monday that I am really happy about. Everyone knows that I am crazy about Eurovision Song Contest that is why we came up with an idea of organizing Quarantine Song Contest – Quarantetion!

Also, I attend the “Sofa League” quizzes in Lithuania every Wednesday and Sunday, English Talking Club and  MC theatre workshops as well. To avoid depression, I decided to start writing a personal project – youth exchange project. It has already been sent, we are waiting for the results. Of course, I hope only positive!

What is more, I celebrated my 19 th birthday also in quarantine. Even though I was alone, I have never felt surrounded byother people so much before. Thank you, everyone who let me feel so special that day! I should mention that my co-workers at school made a huge surprise for me – the students wrote me greetings to my e-mail! However, I don’t work at school anymore. I remember the last thing I did was a history class online with the wonderful teacher Dejan. During this lesson, we compared Lithuanian and Slovenian history, and… we have a lot of similarities! I remember working at school with a smile on my face.

Today, as I write this text, is the 57th day of quarantine. Time is running fast enough, the project is coming to an end. There are the last days left here in Slovenia, so I hope they will be full of challenges and fun memories.

Projekti prostovoljstva v okviru Evropske solidarnostne enote mladim nudijo priložnosti za prostovoljsko delo. Odgovarjati morajo na pomembne potrebe družbe, prispevati h krepitvi skupnosti in ob tem prostovoljcem omogočati, da pridobivajo uporabne izkušnje, veščine in kompetence za svoj osebni, izobraževalni, socialni, državljanski in profesionalni razvoj, s čimer se izboljšuje njihova zaposljivost.
