Guste’s blog

What is challenging for you?

  • There are some bad days, when nobody understands you, when everyone yells at you. If you want to have a good relationship, you need to express your feelings.
  • To feel when I should say NO and when I should say YES. Not to be the first who says YES, I can do this.
  • To be patient. It is not my straight. Here everything flows, so I need to learn to wait for it.  Everything comes in its own time.
  • Not to raise other’s priorities above mine.

How did you adjust to the slovenian language?

I know Russian, that is why it is a bit easier understand Slovenian for me. Otherwise, the language is a barrier that stays till now. I am not afraid to speak English with locals or with people who are native speakers, but Slovenian is a challenge and a space for improvement.

To conclude, I didn’t adjust. It’s still hard, but I understand a lot (mhm, I don’t know, but teachers say that), it helps at my work at school and in a daily life. The most important thing that almost everyone knows me or my story (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMibGmGxlwI&list=RDHMibGmGxlwI&start_radio=1), so it is a bit easier to communicate sometimes. Slovenians want to improve their English as well, so they talk to me in English more. I still have time to improve my Slovenian.

How did they accept you?

I thought that Lithuanians were closed people. We say our nation (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J2QdDbelmY) is like that. However, when I came here I saw that Slovenians were more closer and didn’t communicate so much. It’s hard to include in the society. I think, this is the hardest mission in my journey. In the beginning it was too hard, because I couldn’t be alone, I needed people, like always. Now I live better with myself. It’s a progress.

To sum up, they didn’t accept. I don’t feel included, but maybe I don’t need it anymore. I am not satisfied with the situation, but for now it’s okay.

What are you thankful for?

I am thankful for choosing me and including me in Zagorje’s life, for being humans (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsSRbTMuXkA) and for the support.
I am thankful for giving myself that opportunity that I am using now. It gives me so much, I even cannot see everything what happens in my life. Maybe just after ESC I will see everything that will grow in me.

Lithuanians say that you are young till you have first times…  Just breath and enjoy… (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7a6aYHdlk4)
